Three Lehigh Valley area high schools made the Pennsylvania’s top 85, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings.
The state rankings list each school’s student-teacher ratio and assign a college readiness score out of a possible 100. College readiness is based upon the number of high school seniors that took an advanced placement exam and passed.
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School ranks as the 25th best high school in the state. The Hanover Township, Northampton County, school boasts a 15:1 student-teacher ratio and earned a 42.4 college readiness score.
The other two recognized schools are Northwestern Lehigh and Parkland.
Northwestern Lehigh High School, at spot 55. The school has a 14:1 student-teacher ratio and a 30.7 college readiness score. That means 33 percent of students took AP tests while 30 percent passed.
Parkland High School is the final school to hit the state ranking list, at number 77, with a 17:1 student-teacher ration. Parkland earned a 22.5 college readiness score; 25 percent of students took AP exams while 22 percent passed.
